Today the “New Basque Filmmakers” series begins in Madrid, organized by the SGAE Foundation.  The series will present: Ander (2009), by Roberto Castón; Izarren argia (2010), by Mikel Rueda; Loreak (2013), by José Mª. Goenaga and Jon Garaño; La casa Emak Bakia (2013), by Óskar Alegría; and Amama (2015), by Asier Altuna.

Madrid, Spain.   The “New Basque Filmmakers” Series will run through March 16 and will present works by well-known producers as well as that by emerging directors.  The selection is complemented by a series of animation shorts by Isabel Herguera and the Bilbao-Bizkaia Exterior-Día (2015) project, a production that includes seven shorts by authors in three generations: Amatxu maitea, by Luis Marías; Caminan, by Mikel Rueda; El amigo imaginario, by Javier Rebollo; Los ocho pecados capitales, by Sra. Polaroiska (Alaitz Arenzana, María Ibarretxe); Misterio en el parque de doña Casilda, by Enrique Urbizu; Parpadeos, by Imanol Uribe; and Zonbi eguna, by Pedro Olea.

The series begins today with a session that is open to the public and will include the participation of directors that are part of the Bilbao-Bizkaia. Exterior-Dia project that will include showing its shorts.  Luis Marías; Mikel Rueda, Javier Rebollo, Sra. Polaroiska (Alaitz Arenzana y María Ibarretxe), Enrique Urbizu, Pedro Olea and director from ZINEBI, Ernesto del Río, describing his experience behind the scenes and expressing the sensibilities of new Basque film to the public, regarded in recent years as one of the great emerging values in the audiovisual industry.
