Jaialdi 2020 in Boise publishes the program of the 8th edition of the festival a year in advance

Boise, ID, USA. Organizers of the 8th edition of Jaialdi in Boise, July 28-August 2, 2020, in Idaho’s capital, published the basic program on its website that will be enjoyed by those who come next summer.  This festival is qualified by many as the largest Basque festival outside of Euskadi.

Remember that as the date approaches, the organization decided to also announce the names of the musical and artistic groups that will participate from Euskal Herrria, joining several bertsolaris, dance groups, music and sport that also attend from various Basque communities and clubs across the US, as well as other places in the Diaspora.

This is the program provided by Jaialdi 2020:

Tuesday, July 28 and Wednesday, July 29

5-11 p.m.
Welcome to Boise
Join us on the Basque Block! We’ll have food and drink on hand, and strolling musicians will be there to entertain you.

Thursday, July 30

Noon-midnight
Basque-ing on the Block
Grab some food, get a drink, and enjoy Basque music with old and new friends.

Sports Night
CenturyLink Arena, 7 p.m.

Weight lifters from the Basque Country will test their strength by lifting cylinders weighing 250-400 pounds and stone balls weighing 350 pounds. Woodchoppers will pit their skills against each other, and traditional farm sports competitors will throw hay bales, lift wagons, and see who can carry milk cans the farthest.

Street Dance
Basque Block, 9 p.m.-midnight

After Sports Night, join Basque and Basque-American bands in this celebration of music and dancing.

Friday, July 31

Basque-ing on the Block
Basque Block, noon-midnight

Grab some food, get a drink, and enjoy Basque music with old and new friends.

Festa’ra
Morrison Center, 7 p.m.

Festa’ra is a celebration of the traditional music and dance of the Basque Country, including performers from Euzkadi and Boise’s famous Oinkari Basque Dancers.

Saturday, August 1

Basque-ing at Expo Idaho
Expo Idaho, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Dozens of dance groups from around the West will perform on two indoor stages. Vendors will sell Basque novelties, souvenirs, and clothing. This event will also feature food, drink, a sports arena, and sheep wagon displays.

San Inazio Mass
St. Mark’s, 7960 Northview Street, 7 p.m.

The annual San Inazio Mass, featuring a sacred liturgical dance by the Oñati Dancers on the altar, will be celebrated in Basque and English.

Saturday Night Dance and Concert
CenturyLink Arena, 9 p.m.-midnight

Join Basque and Basque-American bands in this celebration of music and dancing. All ages are welcome!

Sunday, August 2

Basque-ing at Expo Idaho
Expo Idaho, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Saturday’s events continue with more of the same fun, dancing, and sports.

Street Dance
Basque Block, 8-11 p.m.

The final night of music and dancing featuring Basque and Basque-American bands.
