Over the last few hours many Basque and Catalan tweeters have used #euskaraeslhora to share their favorite Basque word. The chain began at Barcelona’s Basque club, who launched this viral campaign to make Basque classes known and to publicize them at the beginning of the year. The idea is simple: anyone who receives the message should say what their favorite Basque word is, including its translation into Catalan, and then name three more people to do the same. It has arrived in the Basque Country from Catalonia, do you want to spread it to the Diaspora”

Barcelona, Catalonia. Roger Salas from the Barcelona Euskal Etxea explained to EuskalKultura.com how the original idea for the campaign came about: “In Catalonia, with the National Day, Diada, coming, the hashtag #haraeslhora (now is the time) has become very well known, and we played with that to make it sound similar: #euskaraeslhora. The goal is to make information on Basque classes at the club known among Catalans.

The Basque club will raffle a club t-shirt and other gifts among the participants. “All they have to do is copy the hashtag, and share their favorite Basque word with its Catalan translation then name three friends to do the same,” Salas said.

Many people have joined the campaign, and the well-known Catalan news portal, Vilaweb, has also shared the idea: "#euskaraeslhora, the viral campaign to promote Euskera among Catalans”. Join in!
