EuskalKultura.com is raffling a 2014 NABO wall calendar: get yours by sending an email

EuskalKultura.com is raffling five 2014 NABO wall calendars. Under the motto “Celebrate + Education = Perpetuate,” the entity comprised of Basque clubs in the US publishes a calendar every year with images and information from the Basque Country as well as the Diaspora. NABO was founded in 1973 in Reno, Nevada and is comprised of 41 Basque clubs/organizations throughout the country. The last date to enter the raffle is September 18 at midnight. Names of winners will be published on Friday the 20th.

Donostia-San Sebastian.  Today marks the start of another raffle that will leave five readers of EuskalKultura.com with a copy of the 2014 NABO Wall calendar.  It will also available for purchase from Basque clubs in the US and Canada.

The calendar gathers twelve photos with Basque scenes from the US Diaspora as well as Euskal Herria.  The months and days of the week appear in Basque and English, and the days of the week are also in Spanish and French. 

This calendar also features a book every month that is either on a Basque topic, or by a Basque author (from the Basque Country or the Diaspora) written or translated into English and published by the Center for Basque Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, with covers and photos as well as web reference where the information is expanded or the book can be ordered.  The 2014 selection includes:

-Guillermo Zubiaga (comic trilogy; The Flying whaleboat, Whale Island and Joanes or the Basque Whaler

-Joan Errea (My Mama Marie, a tribute to her mother, who immigrated from Banka Behe Nafarroa, a story that includes recipes)

-Beñat Etxepare (Linguae Vasconum Primitiae, the first book published in Basque in 1545)

-Bernardo Atxaga (Two Basque Stories, one of his many works translated into English)

-Mikel Morris (English-Basque / Basque-English Dictionary)

-Mary Jean Etcheverry-Morton (Oui, oui, oui of the Pyrenees, a children’s book written by this Nevada Basque.)

-Warren Lerude (Robert Laxalt, about this well-known Basque –American author)

-David Romtvedt & Dollie Iberlin (Buffalotarrak, that reviews the families and Basque History of the town of Buffalo, Wyoming)

-Mark Kurlansky (The Girl Who Swam to Euskadi, only children’s book published to date by this North American author)

-Philippe Veyrin (The Basques of Lapurdi, Zuberoa and Lower Navarre, Their History and Their Traditions)

-Mari Jose Olaziregi (Basque Literary History, a history of Basque literature)

-Olatz González Abrisketa (Basque Pelota, A Ritual, An Aesthetic)

Anyone wanting to enter the raffle only needs to send an email to: info@euskalkultura.com with “raffle” in the subject line and including your name, mailing address (including country) and phone.  Only one entry per email please. 

The deadline to enter is September 18 at midnight, and winners will be published on September 20th.
