Donostia-San Sebastián. The course will take place July 21-23, 2021 and can be attended either in person or online. It brings together a remarkable group of experts from both the world of academia and countries, cities and institutions that successfully practice this effective way to get out into the world and interrelate, creating networks overcoming rigid traditional schemes, analyzing and comparing cases and practical experiences thanks to individuals who promote and carry them out.
The course is entitled, “Public Diplomacy & Cultural Diplomacy. Basque Public Diplomacy,” and coordinated by Imanol Galdos Irazabal from Donostia Kultura. It will take place in English and its agenda and participants will include the effort exerted in this field in the Diaspora, an important part of the fabric and networks that make up Basque public diplomacy.
It will address both the general concept, and theory of public diplomacy and its exercise and praxis comparatively expounding experiences such as those of Friesland-Netherlands, Ireland, Lithuania, Quebec, Catalonia, Denmark and the United Sates. It will also look at the roles of cities and Diasporas, focusing later on the Basque case, which has apparently completed a phase and is facing the beginning of a new stage.
