Rose Mary Garahana Sainsbury, age 90, passed peacefully at her residence in Riverton, Utah on Monday, July 29, 2019 of natural causes. 

“Rose” was born on June 1, 1929 in Bingham Canyon, Utah to John Joseph and Marcelina Jayo Garahana. 

She married the love of her life, Thomas Calvin Sainsbury in 1961. They moved to Riverton, Utah where they raised two sons. 

Rose worked at KSOP for a couple of years and spent the rest of her years as a home maker. 

She is survived by her sons Craig (Debbie) and Mark (Hiedi), Grandson Cody, Granddaughters Kat, Kylee, and Trista and her brother, John Garahana (Sherlene) . Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Carmen Mascaro and brothers, Paulino Garahana and Tom Garahana.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 beginning at 2 PM at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy. A visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6-8 PM at the mortuary as well as Tuesday prior to services beginning at 1 PM. Interment to follow services at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.

Basques of Utah...arise and be counted!
Join together as a group, our heritage was founded...
By Men of pride and deep love for their country.
Left Spain and France...their first love, then, to America, the free!
Customs...traditions...thay all have their place.
United here and forever as a Race.
Band together so all can share...
These traditions for which we deeply care.
Young and old, we need all our fellow Basques...
There is much to be done for each to do his task.
