Anna Mari (Renteria) Aguirre passed away on May 8 in Brooklyn at age 69.

Born into a Basque family in Brooklyn, the NY Basque club, Euzko Etxea of New York was her second home and the Basque community in the city her extended family.

Anna Mari dedicated her life in favor of the dissemination, knowledge and recognition in her American social environment of contribution the Basques to the United States and to modern history, culture and society, both in the USA and in Europe and the world.

A tireless worker, she contributed in a particularly relevant way to the Euzko Etxea in New York, the SBSA (Society of Basque Studies in America) and promoting the opening of a Basque International Cultural Center in Manhattan.

Our condolences to her partner Richard Tyer, her brother Martin and her nephew and niece Ryan and Elise.
