Roger Dennis Bonson born June 11, 1960, in San Francisco. He was raised in San Francisco and Redwood City. In 2001 he moved to Oakdale, California. On March 10, 2025, Roger passed away peacefully at home from ALS.
Roger leaves behind his wife Monet of 42 years. His three sons, Derek, Travis (Aaron Delgado) and Tyler (Brenna) and 3 grandchildren, Alexa, Ava and Lochlan. As well as his brother Chris (Christine). Aunts, Odette Etcheverry, Marguerite Etcheverry, Annie Nogues and Uncle Dominique Berhan and many cousins here in the United States as well as in France. Preceded in death by his parents, Henri and Marie Jeanne Bonson.
He was very proud of his Basque Heritage and his extended family. Roger loved attending every event possible at the Basque Cultural Center, Basque picnics and banquets. Never one to miss an opportunity for a good time especially at their Halloween parties either in Redwood City or Oakdale. He loved fishing and spending time with family and longtime friends at the fishing cabin, in Oregon and in Mexico. He loved teaching friends how to make sausages. He loved telling stories about his childhood and all the fun he had with his wife, brother, his kids, cousins and friends. He especially loved Sunday brunch with the family in their beautiful backyard which he designed. He was a member of the Basque Cultural Center and Iparreko Ibarra Rocklin Basque Club and San Francisco Klika. He had worked with his father and brother, Bonson & Son’s Landscaping, Amerine Systems in Oakdale and ending his career as a semi-conductor supervisor for CHA.
The Bonson family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, prayers, concern, kindness and many gestures of love to them.
All are welcome to join the Bonson family in celebrating Roger’s life at the Basque Cultural Center on Tuesday, April 22nd at 11am.
