José Luis 'Joe' Abio passed away in New Jersey on May 11, 2023 at the age of 67. He was the son of Julian Abio Laraudogoitia and Maria Teresa Goiriena Bilbao.

Born in Bakio-Bilbao, Bizkaia, in December 15th, 1955, at the age of 8 he emigrated with his parents and brother to the United States to Brooklyn, New York. Fifteen years later he moved to Hudson County, New Jersey where he lived till now. He was retired and had worked running computers for ADP.

He never married and had no children. He adored his nephews Xantiana, Julen and Maialen, sons of his brother Julian/Julen.

"He always missed Euskadi, although he visited it a few times" "I was recently in Bakio and everyone was asking me about him", told us his brother. "I couldn't have had a better brother, generous and kind to the extreme," he summarizes.

From these lines, our condolences to his brother Julen, his sister-in-law Nilsa Rivera-Abio, nieces Xantiana and Maialen, and nephew Julen, friends and family.

A visitation for Jose will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Leber Funeral Home, 2000 Kennedy Blvd, Union City, NJ 07087. A committal service will occur Friday, May 19, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at St. Charles Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale, NY 11735. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 19, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Augustine R.C.C., 3000 New York Ave., Union City, NJ 07087.
