Henri was born in Lekorne (Mendionde) France in the Basque region of France. He immigrated at the age of seventeen to San Francisco and worked as a gardener. Five years later he went back to France and two months later he married Marie Jeanne (Etcheverry) in Lourdes. They moved to San Francisco and had two sons, Roger and Chris. He continued his career as a landscape contractor with his sons in the Bay Area.

He loved fishing, hunting, handball and playing mus. He was proud of his Basque heritage and shared that feeling with family and friends. He was a member of San Francisco Basque Cultural Center, Los Banos Basque Club, lparreko Ibarra Basque Club and La Ligue Henri IV. He enjoyed being with his Basque family and friends and lived his life to the fullest.

Henri is survived by his wife, Marie Jeanne of 61 years, son Roger (Monet), Chris (Christine). Three grandsons, Derek, Travis (Aaron), Tyler (Brenna) and two great granddaughters, Alexa and Ava.

He had many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews in the United States and in France.

Celebration of life mass will be December 14, 2019 10 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 1225 Olive Street, Oakdale, California. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
