Dean Russell Ewing, a loving father, son, brother, partner, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on August 23, 2023 at the age of 47.

Born in Santa Clara, CA, Dean loved surfing with his dad and brother from a young age, and taught many people in his life how to ride the waves. Dean always offered a helping hand to those who needed it, and and could make you laugh even in the toughest situations.

After moving to Reno in his early 20's, Dean worked at the famed Liberty Bell Restaurant as a server and a cook where he began many lifelong friendships. After the restaurant closed, Dean became a plumber at Savage & Son where he was known as a true "Savage Soldier," shining as one of the top foremen on every job he was a part of, including construction on the University of Nevada, Reno and Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center. He was a proud member of the local plumber and pipefitter union UA Local 350.

Dean also started a family in Reno, and he absolutely loved being a father to his three kids. He considered being a dad the most rewarding thing he ever did, and was always striving to be a better one. The family could be seen sledding down Mt. Rose together during the winter, and taking road trips every summer. No matter the weather, Dean could be seen in shorts and high socks.

Dean was preceded in death by his mother, Susan DiSalvo, in 2020. Dean is survived by his daughters Vanessa H. Garcia and Sara Ewing, his son Cris H. Garcia, the mother of his children Rosa Garcia, his father Chris Ewing, his brother Vince Ewing, his sister Sammy DiSalvo and her husband Jake Arky, his stepfather David DiSalvo and Dean's loving partner, Jennifer Etcheberry.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations for Dean's celebration of life at gofundme.com/f/DeanEwing-CelebrationOfLife.
