Miguel Irizar, bishop emeritus of Callao (Peru) died yesterday in Bilbao, where he resided for the last three years.

He was ordained a priest in 1957 and from 1960 he developed all his religious activity in Peru.

Appointed in 1972 Missionary Bishop of the Vicariate of Yurimaguas (Alto Amazonas province), in 1989 he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Callao and diocesan bishop in 1995, a position in which he reached retirement on his 75th birthday.
