Alberto Simón Mindeguía

Alberto Simón Mindeguía
Alberto Simón Mindeguia "Beto"

06/30/2021 - Chivilcoy, Argentina

He was born into a family of Basque grandparents living in the South Zone of Chivilcoy.

He worked in various activities, including being a truck driver, and all of this allowed him to shape his life and go slowly, step by step, achieving with dedication and effort to set up his own business, something he longed for so much. Ladrillera Don Simón is the company he owned, dedicated to the production of bricks and other construction materials, a local company that employs many families. With products recognized not only in Chivilcoy but in a wide radius of influence that includes areas of the capital city and Greater Buenos Aires.

At the end of the 1990s, through an invitation, he approached Euskal Etxea of Chivilcoy and that was the beginning of his integration with all of us. It became an important pillar, which was added to the efforts of all of us who work and manage, offering his "Basque polenta" for the construction and concretion of the building of the facilities that today constitute our headquarters, our much desired House, Euskal Etxea, the Chivilcoy Basque Center, which opened its doors in mid-2007.

He was part of the Working Group, of various activities that he supported, always with good character and enthusiasm. He used to take part in most of the official acts, always proud to carry our flags in them. His weakness was cooking: he was an excellent cook!and hise specialty were the famous and recognized potato omelettes, which could also be tasted by good friends who passed by our Basque House as guests.

Very sociable, he always thought that the dinners with friends and membersatt our Basque club were moments of happiness, and he dedicated himself to receiving and attending all our guests.

He was waiting, he told us a few days ago, eagerly for the end of this forced isolation that is going through the pandemic and COVID-19 and he wished we could all meet again in our Basque headquarters, enjoying around a good table!

He held various positions on the Board of Directors. He took over the presidency of the institution in April 2016, continuing as president for the periods 2017 to 2019; and from 2019 to 2021, leaving in his wake a seal of respect, honesty and fulfillment of the sacred "Word of Vasco," Euskaldun Hitza, Palabra de Vasco that characterized him.

Alberto: Eskerrik Asko, thank you for sharing your time, your friendship, and so many unforgettable moments with us!

Beto: Your memory will always be in our hearts and in every corner of your beloved home at the Centro Vasco de Chivilcoy "Beti Aurrera".
