1927 - 2018

Petie was born in Boise March 1, 1927 to Calvin Grant Myers and Cecil Agnes Hicks Hoyer Myers. Visitation will be held at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Friday, August 17, 2018. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church. A luncheon will follow at Bardenay Restaurant, Basque Block for all friends and family.

Petie grew up in Old Boise in the 30s and 40s. She was the youngest of 6 children. She rode her bike with friends all over the valley. She visited the monkey in the window of the feed store down the street, jiggled chips of ice from the huge chutes at the ice house on Front Street, watched movies at the Egyptian Theatre for a nickel, and caught frogs in what is now Kathryn Albertson Park. She recalled vividly Sunday, December 7, 1941, when the movie was stopped at the Egyptian Theatre. The movie goers were told to go home and await news because Pearl Harbor had been attacked by Japan.

Petie graduated from Boise High School in 1945 and attended secretarial school. She had long employment tenures with the Idaho State Department of Law Enforcement, and Boise Cascade Corporation. She was an amazing typist and a shorthand whiz.

She married Frank Bermeosolo on June 2, 1946. Theirs was a unique and total love affair with life. All who shared their life laughed, loved, and relished in their partnership. Their daughter, Marsha, was born in 1948.

Petie and Frank enjoyed a wide circle of friends and neighbors. They danced, played cards, fished, and went to the "jalopy races" at the Meridian Speedway. Both enjoyed bowling and Petie was a champion more than once. They enjoyed Sunday dinners with their extended family.

Through the 60s, boating and water skiing were the highlight of every weekend at Lucky Peak Reservoir or Payette Lake. They bought a travel trailer and enjoyed camping and fishing at Cascade Reservoir, and in the Pine/Featherville area. Eventually, they built a cabin in the Paradise Resort development where they met a whole new circle of friends. They loved fishing, snowmobiling, boating, four wheeling, soaking in the plunge and socializing at the lodge where Petie was the Mrs. PacMan queen.
Petie embraced Frank's Basque heritage as her own. They were early and active members of the Basque Center.

Frank died in 1991 after a 9 year illness through which he was lovingly cared for by Petie. Petie was also preceded in death by her mother and father, her 5 brothers and sisters, Clarence Hoyer, Doris Hoyer Veach, Blanche Hoyer Sproat, Howard Myers, Betty Myers Taylor, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Antonio and Rosario Bermeosolo.

After Frank's death, Petie remained in Boise and was active in her homeowners association, played backgammon online with opponents all over the globe, and played any kind of hand held game. She played to win, regardless of her opponent's age – 5 or 85. After more than 25 years in retirement she enjoyed working the front desk at the Shilo Inns Boise Airport for Brandon Rosenkoetter. She belonged to a pinochle card club with her "younger girls" until she was 90 that brought her special joy. She participated in the many activities at Salmon Creek Retirement including bingo and Wii bowling. Petie had a very special friend there, Carl Olson. They were wonderful companions and shared many enjoyable hours together.

Petie always enjoyed her growing family. She loved Marsha's husband, Richard Bennett, as her son. She was an especially silly and fun Gramma to her granddaughters, Kimberly and Brooke. She loved to go to Jackpot with Brooke and her husband, Geoff – who was always "Bruce" to her. She approved of Grant Porter, Kim's husband immediately because his name was Grant and her father's middle name was Grant.

Her four great grandchildren were always entertained by Gramma Petie's sense of humor and silly behavior.

Petie moved to Plantation Place Assisted Living in February, 2018. She continued to entertain, embrace, and love her new family there.

She is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Richard) Bennett, granddaughters, Kimberly (Grant) Porter, Brooke (Geoffrey) Lewis, and 4 great grandchildren, Maxwell, Carly Jane, Alexandra Lewis and Bennett Porter. She is also survived by her special friend Josephine Bennett, Richard's mother and her sister-in-law Peitha Bermeosolo Johnson Rush, Maryville, Missouri. She had room in her heart for many dear younger friends including Brandon Rosenkoetter, Tammie Christensen Hill, David Jacobs, Corinna Beard and Robin Preston. She loved Richard's four siblings, Carol, Kaye, Bob, Barbara and their families as her family.

Petie died at Plantation Place August 9, 2018 with her daughter by her side and her extended family of loving care givers and hospice nurse, Christina, nearby.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation or please reach out to someone who needs a hug, a smile, or a small compliment.

Remember, "Gramma Petie loves you."
