Gracieuse Idiart (November 24, 1932 - February 22, 2024)

Gracieuse Idiart passed away on February 22, 2024 at the age of ninety-one. She was born on November 24, 1932 in Helette, a small village in the Basque Country of France. Her parents were Jean Franchisteguy and Marie Sarriquet. She had four siblings; Marie-Jean, Charles, Marie, and Baptiste.

Gracieuse married Jean Idiart, also of Helette, in 1957 and together they immigrated to the United States that same year. They lived in Riverside then Chino, California until they moved their family to San Jacinto, California in 1965. Gracieuse remained in San Jacinto for the next 59 years of her life.

She is survived by her children, Jean Idiart and Yvette Vasquez; her grandchildren Nicole Idiart, Victor Vasquez, Paul Vasquez, and Genevieve Vasquez, and her brother Baptiste. She is preceded in death by her husband Jean and her grandson David Idiart. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and devout Catholic.

Rosary and funeral mass will be held at 10 am and 11am, respectively, on Tuesday April 9, 2024 at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in San Jacinto, California, followed immediately by grave-side services at San Jacinto-Hemet Valley Cemetery at 12 PM.
