Grace Jeanne (Etchemendy) Johnson, 96, passed away in her home Monday, July 20, 2026 surrounded by loving family. Grace was born November 1, 1929 in Montrose, Co to Pierre and Anna Etchemendy.

She graduated from Montrose High School, attended Mesa College and then later married Kenneth Johnson in 1950. They were married 47 years before his passing.

Grace was a lifelong avid bowler and enjoyed several trips traveling abroad after her retirement. Grace truly enjoyed her grandkids, attending games and events every chance she got.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Pierre and Anna Etchemendy, her husband Kenneth Johnson, sister Eveleen Maurer, nieces Tammy and Sandie Maurer, and brother and sister-in-law Prosper and Verla Etchemendy.

She is survived by her children Glenn (Dondee) Johnson, Wayne Johnson, and Janet (Bill) Green; her grandchildren Nick Johnson, Chris (Kourtney) Johnson, Haley Johnson, Brittany (Joshua) Maynes, and Jeremy (Sophia) Green; 7 great-grandchildren, brother George (Bobetta) Etchemendy, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held for Grace at 10:00 am Friday, July 31st at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Montrose. Viewing will be held Thursday the 30th at 5 PM at Crippin funeral home, followed by a Vigil at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hopewest Hospice at 725 South 4th Street Montrose, CO 81401. 970-240-7787.
