(2018ko azaroaren 11an Idaho Press Tribune, Legacy.com-en argitara emandako heriotz-oharra)

December 6, 1931 - November 1, 2018

Edmund "Ed" Irigoyen, 86 years old of Nampa Idaho, went home to be with the Lord on November 1, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, and is survived by his three children, five grandchildren, a great-grandson, and three of four siblings spread across various states in the southwest and northwest.

Ed was born and raised in New Mexico where he met his wife, Edith. They were married June 27, 1953. Ed served in the Marine Corps as a sergeant, specializing in power shovel and crane operation from 1951 to 1954, in Camp Pendleton, California. He and his wife worked at the local A&W Hamburger Stand which he later managed and operated. They moved to Nevada after their second child was born where Ed worked as a landscaper. His talent for creating and maintaining immaculate sculpted landscapes won him a reputation that was widely known. He had a great love for gardening and always grew a vegetable garden, from which much of the produce was donated to the food bank. Coming from part Basque lineage, he enjoyed attending the Basque festivals and many other cultural activities.

Ed was a member of Saint Paul's Catholic Church in Nampa where he served in several different capacities. He was a volunteer at the food bank for many years. His gift of language allowed him to connect with the Hispanic community in need as well as those involved in the church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in which he received his fourth degree in Las Vegas, Nevada and continued to participate for many years after moving to Idaho.

Ed was a doting grandfather who spent much time in recreation with and helping care for his grandchildren. He was a mentor and teacher to them as well as a playmate. He especially treasured becoming a great grandfather which was the spark that strengthened him in his last months here on Earth.

Viewing and Rosary will be Monday November 11, 2018 at Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
