Carmele Legorburu died in the presence of her older son and her grandchildren on February 2, 2021 in Salt Lake City where she had resided for the last 4 years. She was 84.

She was born near Elko, Nevada to Serafin and Carmen (Zatica) Barainca, November 13th, 1936.

She married her husband of nearly 50 years, Leon at the age of 19 and together the couple moved to Reno, where they raised their two sons, and built a successful business, a plumbing contracting business currently owned and operated by their oldest Leo. They also invested in commercial real estate-- a business that also continues to this day.

Carmele and her husband Leon were active in the founding of the Reno Zazpiak Bat Basque Club and were active participants in that community. Later in life they also owned residence in the Phoenix area where they enjoyed golf and traveled with the many friends that they made while spending winters in that community.

Carmele is predeceased by both of her parents Carmen and Serafin Barainca, her step father Joseph Arrascada, her husband Leon, her sister Lola Olacergui, and her brother Ray Barainca. She is survived by her two sons Leo and his wife Cheri, her son Noel, her Grandchildren Maris Scott, Liesl Black, Brittany Claro, and Gabriel Legorburu and their spouses and her great grandchildren.

Carmele had a good life filled with hard work achievement and more travel and adventure than she ever expected. She will be missed by her family and the many friends she made along the way. She will live on in our hearts and memories forever.

A mass will be held in honor of her life on March 1, 2021. Please contact the family for details. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Northern California and Northern Nevada Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association in her memory would be greatly appreciated.
