(publicado en Dignitymemorial.com)

Yvette was born on August 13, 1970, to Bertrand and Rosie Ossinalde in Fresno, California. She lived her entire youth in the rural town of Easton. Yvette attended Washington Colony Elementary School, a place that seeded her inspiration to teach and graduated from Washington Union High School in 1988. Yvette’s favorite subjects were geography and history where she later graduated in Chicano History from UC Santa Barbara in 1992. Here is where she made close and lifelong friends, Olympia Pasqual and Socorro Chavez. All three would become teachers in Ventura County and inspired one another throughout their teaching careers. Yvette would continue her education at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California and obtained a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration to take on the Vice Principal role during her career in Oxnard, California.

A teacher to the end, she was known for her contagious smile, baking skills, and her ability to bring friends together. Her love of teaching and passion for perfecting the bilingual curriculum for children fueled her existence. Yvette enjoyed antiquing and you could find her early on Saturday mornings scouring through yard sales for a perfect find or giving an item a new life in her home. Yvette also would spend time browsing through books at the library; her love for learning and teaching had no bounds. Yvette was a member of the Ventura and Los Banos Basque Clubs where she volunteered annually at the club picnics. She was also a former Fresno Basque Club dancer.

Yvette was predeceased by Rosie, her mother. She is survived by Bertrand Ossinalde, her father, Celine Ossinalde, her sister, Juan Diego Ibanez, her brother-in-law, Rachel Torres, her aunt and Gilbert Torres, her uncle. In France, Yvette leaves behind her aunts, Anna Ossinalde and Celine Irola. She is survived by a large circle of cousins and friends.
