Jean Pierre Sansinena, 88 years old, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away on September 19, 2023.

Jean Pierre (also known as Aita, Aitatchi, and Pop) was born on June 28, 1935, in Urepele, France, in the Basque Country, to Sebastian and Gacina (Alfaro) Sansinena. Aita emigrated to the US in 1952, working at Camp Pendleton, CA as a sheepherder. He moved to Chino, CA, where he began milking cows. He met Grace Amestoy and they were married on April 8, 1961. They had three children, Cathy, Monique and Jean Pierre, Jr.

In 1978, Aita realized his dream of owning his own dairy and moved to New Plymouth, Idaho with Grace and the kids.

Aita retired from the dairy in 2005.

Aita loved his family, a great meal, a good highball and glass of wine. He loved to talk politics and world events.

Aita is survived by his wife of 62 years, Grace; his sisters Marie Jeanne and Mayie, who reside in the Basque Country; his daughters Cathy (Larry), Monique (Dan), and son, Jean Pierre, Jr. (Traci). His grandchildren: Tasha (Jeff), Rachel, Trinity, Connor and Max (Magnolia). His great grandchildren: Nicholas, Hayden, Abby, Logan, Kolten, Noah, Audrina, Kennedy and Easton. Aita got to meet his great great granddaughter, Alayne, before he passed away.

Services will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Caldwell on Friday, September 29 at 10AM. Reception to follow.
