Paraná, Argentina. The Urrundik Basque Association and the “Presencia Vasca” (Basque Presence) radio show conducted by Federico Borras Alcain will hold this year a double celebration. In fact the Euskal Etxea will celebrate its 20th anniversary while the radio show will celebrate its 30th anniversary of uninterrupted broadcasting. These special events have not gone unnoticed by the Basques in Parana and they have already announced a Grand Anniversary Lunch for June 28, 2020.
The celebrations will take place throughout the year and will involve the different activities that take place at the Euskal Etxea with the participation, in some cases, of international referents. The program of events will begin this Sunday, March 1st with the presentation of the Urrundik Theater Group and the play “The Way of the Elephant” by Laura Campos, and will continue as indicated below:
-July 19, re-inauguration of the “Plaza Euskadi”, in Bajada de los Vascos avenue, in the area of Puerto Viejo;
-August 28, 29, 30, International “Two Shores” Chess Tournament with the participation of best chess players in the region, as well as figures from abroad.
-September 12-13, Basque dance workshop organized by FEVA with Basque clubs from all over the country attending;
-October 25, Basque Music and Dance festival at the 3 de Febrero Theater. Performances by the txikis, youth and adult dancers of the Urrundik dance group along with a recital by Basque Country singer Joseba Gotzon, as part of his “Urrundik 2020” tour.
Dance performances at the local and regional Immigrant Festivals will also be included as well as their presence at Semana Nacional Vasca 2020 in Macachin.
