The team from Canada won the 42nd World Mus Championship that went through some issues and a retreat

Baiona, Lapurdi. The 42nd World Mus Championships between Basque communities took place last week in Baiona, and the team from Canada comprised of Franck Altuna and Rufino Iribarren (delegate Frank Etchart) took the championship's txapela; second place went to the second team from Navarre, Javier Apesteguia and Daniel Zunzarren and third place with to Euskadi’s team, Borja Ruiz and Ixone Ureña.

The tournament’s organization was as excellent, as expected, but during the competition there were some issues. According to the International Federation, the team from Baigorri, representing France’s second team, performed a practice that some considered illegal.  After gathering the delegates, it was decided to expel the duo.  The French Federation, standing by its team, Xabi Alcasena and Aitor Atchoarena, felt that the players had followed the rules at all times, and finally in protest, retired both of its teams from the competition.
