Buenos Aires, Argentina. The festivities traditionally take place the night before June 24th, San Juan, when bonfires are lit in Euskal Herria. In the Diaspora, many of the Basque clubs join in the festivities that same day, but some don´t due to climate problems, like those in South America where winter, many times accompanied by rain and bad weather, begins on June 21st, or in order to make the event more successful accommodating the most attendees.

In Argentina, the bonfires of San Juan began this year last Saturday June 22nd, and will continue throughout this week.  For example, here are some upcoming events:

-Today, June 26th Itxaropen Basque Club in Saladillol. Beginning at 6pm at the club house there will be a gunfire to burn wishes written on paper.  More information here.
-Friday, June 28th, at the Euzko Etxea in Necochea.  The San Juan Bonfire will be at 8pm with a dance.  More information here.
-Saturday, June 29th at the Denak Bat Basque Club in Cañuelas.  At 6pm there will be a kalejira from the clubhouse to the park where there will be dancing around the fire.  There will also be a dance at night at the clubhouse.  More information here.
-Sunday June 30th, at Beti Aurrera in Chivilcoy.  Beginning at 3pm, bonfire with music and dance performances and a bar.  More information, here.
-Sunday, June 30th, at the Loretako Euskaldunak Basque Club in Las Flores.  At 4pm, bonfire, sorginak-witches, and hot chocolate.  More information here..

There are also clubs that celebrated last weekend, not only in Argentina but also in other coutnreis like Mexico and Uruguay.  Following are a couple of videos and a photo gallery:
