Basque dance from Argentina and the Basque Country will be part of the “Grand Ball of Europe” Festival in France

Gennentines, France. The festival is known as the “Grand Ball of Europe,” and takes place every year in Gennentines, France.  Its aim is to give visibility to the “strength, richness, diversity and the charm of dance and music” on the continent. This year’s event will take place July 19-August 2nd, with two days dedicated to dances of Euskal Herria.  Three Basque groups will participate this year, Agnes, Oreinak and Patxi eta Konpania. Aitor Alava, director of the Buenos Aires Ekin Basque Dancers with be one of the dancers.

According to Aitor Alava, who is part of the festival along with the group led by Patxi Perez, the proposal from Patxi eta Konpainia, includes classes as well as performances not just featuring Basque dances, but also Argentine folklore like chacareras, gatos, chamamé, tangos and milongas.

The Basque-Argentine days at the “Grand Ball of Europe," will be Wednesday the 24th and Thursday the 25th.  The delegation of dancers and musiciand that will accompany Perez, besides Aitor Alava, is comprised of Mikel Perez, Jimmy Arrabit, Panpo Gerard, Aitziber Alava and Maider Alava.
