Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina. A year ago, as part of the local Basque club’s 96th anniversary, the CC16 Project was presented in Comodoro whose aim was to classify, create and restore the work of Jon Villelabeitia Basque filmmaker who resided in Patagonia. He was instrumental in the creation of the Audiovisual Production Center that now holds his name at the National University of Patagonia San Juan Bosco. Coming from Bilbao, researcher and director Josu Martínez participated last year in Comodoro offering a series of seminars, including one on Basque expat filmmakers.

A year after that presentation, Martínez's research has come to light in ZER, the Journal of Communication Studies of University of the Basque Country. With this publication, Martínez aims to "map the figure and work of Jon Villelabeitia, a filmmaker whose name has so far been completely absent in studies of Basque cinema." The complete article can be read or downloaded from this link..

The Basque club in Chubut shared these news during its 97th anniversary celebration, and event this year that was carried out virtually due to the Coronavirus, but still was very well attended.  As published by EuskalKultura.eus, the virtual commemoration included gatherings for txikis, dantzaris and a radio dance. Taking all the necessary precautions, club members also organized a great 'sukalki' sale.
